Doran-Lista Team Qualifies Friday and Works
on Final Preparations for Rolex 24

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Jan. 30 - Didier Theys of Scottsdale, Ariz. took care of some unfinished business and did two laps at speed in race trim during the second qualifying session Friday morning at Daytona International Speedway to qualify 31st for this weekend's Rolex 24.

His official qualifying time was 1:47.751 (118.941 mph).  Even though the Doran-Lista DORAN JE4 Lexus #27 was in race trim instead of qualifying rim, that would still have put the team sixth on the grid had that occurred in the first round of qualifying on Thursday.  Unfortunately the car - and eight others - were disqualified from the first round of qualifying due to miscommunications regarding some required paperwork.  The first 30 positions on the starting grid were established in the first round of quals.

"We ran this session in our race configuration; we have our race engine, our race gearbox and the like," Theys explained.  "The only thing we did was put on new Goodyear Eagles for this session.

"We are quite pleased with the car," he said.  "There was no point in pushing it now because there was nothing to be gained."

The race will start at 1 p.m. Saturday and will be covered extensively on SPEED.  Theys' teammates in the race are Fredy Lienhard Sr., Jan Lammers and Mark Goossens.
