Terry Labonte Qualifies 13th Thursday
For Friday Night's CompUSA 200 Rolex Race
At Watkins Glen International

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y., Aug. 11 - Even though NASCAR NEXTEL Cup stars Bobby and
Terry Labonte are only running a handful of Rolex series events this year just
for fun as their stock car schedules permit, Terry Labonte's qualifying time
Thursday afternoon at Watkins Glen International in the Doran Labonte Racing
Daytona USA DORAN JE4 Pontiac No. 44 was less than 1 second off the qualifying
time recorded by the Rolex series' current point leaders, who qualified fifth.

Terry Labonte will start 13th in the 45-car field for the CompUSA 200 Rolex
race Friday night due to his fastest lap in Thursday's qualifying session on
the Glen's 2.45-mile, 11-turn short course of 1:10.006 for an average speed of
125.989 mph.

In contrast, the point leaders were just .921 of a second faster but they
will start fifth.

A sister car to the Doran Labonte Racing entry, the Doran Racing Crown Royal
Special Reserve car, won the pole.

"It went OK," Terry Labonte said immediately after qualifying.  "The car is
good. We've gone faster every session."

"We're doing OK," his brother and co-driver concurred.  "We're having fun."

Crew chief John Wright was very pleased.  "Both Terry and Bobby are doing a
great job," he said.  "They're 20 times more comfortable than they were in the
Rolex 24 at Daytona, which was their first race in this car. They're both
feeling more comfortable and they're great to work with.  They're both very
consistent and they give great feedback. So far, we're in good shape for tomorrow."

Tomorrow night's 200-mile, 82-lap, two-hour race will be covered on a
same-day, tape-delayed basis beginning at 10 p.m. ET Friday night on SPEED.
