Gollin Qualifies Ninth at PIR
For Saturday Night's Rolex Series Race
In Crown Royal Special Reserve DORAN JE4 Ford

PHOENIX, Sept. 9 - Fabrizio Gollin qualified ninth Friday night at Phoenix
International Raceway for Saturday night's Racetickets.com Rolex series race in
Doran Racing's Crown Royal Special Reserve DORAN JE4 Ford No. 77.

Gollin's tenth lap in the 15-minute qualifying session was the one that
counted, as he turned the 1.51-mile, 11-turn road course in just 58.443 seconds for
an average speed of 93.014 mph. That was less than a second off the time that
Terry Borcheller clocked to win the pole in another DORAN JE4.  Both cars
were built by Doran Racing's sister company, Doran Designs, in Lebanon, Ohio.

Neither Gollin nor his co-driver, Matteo Bobbi, had ever seen PIR before
Thursday.  With only two practice sessions Thursday prior to qualifying on Friday
night, they have been working hard to get a handle on the fastest way around
the shortest track on the Rolex series schedule.

With such a steep learning curve, Gollin said that they've been concentrating
on getting a comfortable race set-up, not setting a stunning qualifying lap.

"We tried a new set-up especially for the race," Gollin said after
qualifying.  "We did not concentrate on qualifying.  Without being here before, Matteo
and I have to learn this track.  The race is what is most important."

He said tomorrow night's race will be challenging.

"It will be hard," he said.  "This track is small, and it is very easy to
make a mistake. We must preserve the tires.  That and fuel mileage and our pit
stop strategy will be very important tomorrow night.  If those things go our
way, I think we'll do all right."

The Daytona Prototypes are racing without the GT cars for the first time in
the class's history. The DP race is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. local time on
Saturday.  The distance is 250 miles, 166 laps or two hours and 45 minutes.

The race is scheduled to be shown on SPEED on a tape-delayed basis at 4 p.m.
Eastern time this Sunday.
