DORAN JE4 Ford No. 77 Is Ready; Now It Starts 18th

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Jan. 27 - The Feeds the Need/Doran Racing Kodak
EasyShare DORAN JE4 Ford No. 77 is as ready as it can humanly be made ready for the
start of the 44th annual Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway tomorrow at
noon.  What's more, it's already moved up two spots on the starting grid due
to penalties bestowed on two other teams.

On Friday the Doran Racing team finished its repairs on the car's splitter
and nose from an incident Forest Barber had with the Essex Racing No. 5 on
Thursday. A fresh Robert Yates-prepped Ford engine was also installed on Friday, as
were fresh race gears and new brakes. The Doran Racing team also thoroughly
checked everything, and did a systems check Friday afternoon after the engine
change to see that everything was in proper order.  The pit crew has practiced
their pit stops and the drivers have practiced their driver changes. Now the
only thing remains is to try to get a good night's sleep and hope for the best
on Saturday and Sunday.

Terry Borcheller of Gainesville, Ga. will be behind the wheel for the start
of the twice-around-the-clock enduro.  Although it was originally thought that
he'd start 20th, now he'll start 18th after the No. 3 and the 58 cars were
moved back when their teams failed to meet the deadline to submit their driver
nomination forms.  Now Borcheller will start on the outside of row nine, beside
the Cheever Racing No. 51.

Borcheller didn't want to jinx anything when asked about the team's chances
at a press conference on Friday, noting "At the 24 hours, as long as you can
keep running you always have a chance, because there are so many things that can
happen."

Team owner Kevin Doran will determine the driver rotation as the race
conditions warrant, using his years of experience in an effort to give the team an
edge.  Borcheller, Harrison Brix, Forest Barber and Michel Jourdain Jr. will
respond accordingly.

"We have great Ford power and we get great gas mileage," Brix noted.  "I've
got a fantastic co-driver and a great mentor for my rookie season in Terry. I'm
in a factory car.  We feel we have a really great package."

"For me, it's fantastic to be doing the 24 hours at Daytona," Jourdain said. 
"I came here in 1996 to watch the race for the first time.  Thanks go to
Ford, which has put me together with Doran Racing.  The car is a lot of fun to
drive.  The track is a lot of fun too, so right now I'm enjoying it.  It's a
great team to be with.  If we can not spend too much time in the pits and if we
can be there at the end, we'll be competitive."

The No. 77's sister car, the Doran Racing No. 78, will start fourth. The
other DORAN JE4 in the field, the Rx.com/Synergy Racing No. 8, will start 11th.

In other action, Borcheller and Barber finished sixth in the Grand-Am Cup
race Friday afternoon at Daytona.  Sebastien Bourdais, one of the drivers of the
Doran Racing No. 78 car for the Rolex 24, finished seventh in that race with
his father, Patrick, as his co-driver. Both pairs of drivers were in Mustang
GTs.

Living timing and scoring of the Rolex 24 is planned for grandamerican.com,
while SPEED will provide extensive live TV coverage.
