Feeds the Need/Doran Racing Runs as High as Ninth
In Sunday's Rolex Series Race at VIR

ALTON, Va., April 23 - The Feeds the Need/Doran Racing team was in ninth
place in Sunday's Rolex Series race at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) until
its Kodak EasyShare/Amp'd Mobile/SIRIUS DORAN JE4 Ford slid off course near
the Oak Tree Turn and became wedged in a tire wall. After it was pulled out
driver Harrison Brix of San Jose, Calif. was able to continue under his own power
and the car did finish the 77-lap event, ending up 19th in the Daytona
Prototype class and 24th overall.

Brix had just run his fastest lap of 1:50.145 shortly before the incident
occurred in Turn 11 on lap 30.  Two Porsches went off course there too, and
liquid on the track could have been the cause of the incident.  He tried to get
unlodged himself but couldn't, so the caution waved from laps 31 through 34 so
the track crew could pull him out.

Brix didn't hit anything other than the tire wall and the car did finish the
race, with lead driver Terry Borcheller of Vero Beach, Fla. driving during the
middle portion of the race and Brix getting in again before the end.

Brix started seventh by virtue of Borcheller's finish in that spot in
Saturday's 30-minute Daytona Prototype race here. He settled into a comfortable pace
in ninth place right away, but he did have to serve a drive-through penalty
for contact with the Howard-Boss Motorsports No. 4 on lap six.

Two other Daytona Prototypes crashed while he was serving that to bring out
the first full-course caution, and when some of the leaders pitted under that
yellow Brix was quickly back in the top 10.  It wasn't long before he was right
back in ninth, and he was running comfortably in that spot when the slide-off
occurred.

Borcheller took over when Brix pitted on lap 33, but the entry had dropped to
37th overall.  Borcheller brought the car back up to 28th overall and 19th in
class, running his fastest lap of 1:50.057 on lap 40.  Brix got back in on
lap 54, passed a few GT cars and was driving when the Ruby Tuesday No. 23 took
the checkered on lap 77 after two hours and 45 minutes of competition.

"I went straight off; I'm not sure if it was my mistake or I ran over oil or
coolant, but I just slid off and I couldn't get going again," Brix said
afterwards.  "I was catching a pack of cars at the time, and we were in ninth place.
I feel really bad about it, because that spoiled our chances.

"As far as the other problem, I didn't feel that was my fault," he added. 
"That happened at the exit of Turn Three, going into Four. I saw an opportunity
to get a position, but he moved over to block me.  He forced me all the way
down in the grass. He defended so well that I ended up hitting him, but he
definitely moved over on me."

The team will hope for better luck at the next race, which is coming right up
May 5-7 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif.
