FTN/Doran Racing Team Will Start
13th
In Saturday's Sahlen's Six Hours of the
Glen
WATKINS
GLEN, N.Y., June 2 - After three rounds
of practice on Friday at
Watkins Glen International, both of the
Feeds the Need/Doran Racing drivers say
they have a good car for tomorrow's Sahlen's
Six Hours of the Glen Rolex Series
race, which will be broadcast live on SPEED
starting at 2:30 p.m. Eastern
time.
Thursday's
Daytona Prototype practice sessions and
Friday's qualifying
sessions were canceled as the result of
a legal case involving Krohn Racing (see
grandamerican.com).
The
starting line-up for Saturday's race was
set by the current point
standings, which puts the Feeds the Need/Doran
Racing DORAN JE4 Ford No. 77 in 13th
spot.
Terry
Borcheller of Vero Beach, Fla. and Harrison
Brix of San Jose, Calif.
will drive the car, which carries the colors
of the Kodak EasyShare System,
Amp'd Mobile and SIRIUS. Brix is slated
to start the race, sharing row seven with
Christian Fittipaldi as the field of 46
takes the green flag and heads into
turn one for the first time.
Both
Borcheller and Brix recorded laps during
the three practice sessions
Friday: one from 1:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.;
one from 4:15 p.m. to 5 p.m.; and one
from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The car's fastest
lap run Friday on the Glen's
3.37-mile, 11-turn road course was Borcheller's
1:46.621 for an average speed of
114.799 miles per hour, making it 12th overall
for the day.
The
team was 12th in its first practice session
with a 1:48.506 (112.805 mph)
set on its fourth lap. It was 14th in the
second session with a 1:48.475
(112.837 mph) set on its eighth lap. It
was 12th again in the last session on
Friday with its fastest lap of the day,
set on its 39th of 42 laps run in that
two-hour session.
The
Alex Job Racing/Emory Motorsports No. 23
of Mike Rockenfeller and Patrick
Long was fastest of the day with a 1:45.466
(116.056 mph), set in the evening
practice session.
A
final practice session is on the schedule
at 8:15 a.m. tomorrow followed by
a driver autograph session at 11 a.m. and
the start of the six-hour enduro at
2:30 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.
"The
car is good," Borcheller said after
climbing out of the cockpit at the
end of the last session Friday night. "I
love this track, but there are going
to be a lot of yellows tomorrow. If we can
stay out of trouble and run our
own pace, hopefully the race will come to
us."
"I
think we have a really good, solid race
car, especially for doing long
runs," Brix agreed. "If the rain
stays away I'm pretty optimistic.
"The
track was dirty and pretty slippery in that
last session," Brix noted.
"A GT car lost a lot of oil, so it
was pretty messy."
Neither
of the FTN/Doran Racing drivers had any
incidents Friday.
