International in the Feeds the
Need/Doran Racing DORAN JE4 Ford No. 77 for
tomorrow night's Crown Royal 200 Daytona
Prototype Rolex Series race on the Glen's
short course.
The No. 77, which carries the colors of the
Kodak EasyShare System, Amp'd
Mobile and SIRIUS, posted a qualifying time
of 1:08.591 (128.588 mph).
Brix's co-driver is Terry Borcheller of Vero
Beach, Fla.
The pole went to the GAINSCO/Blackhawk Racing
No. 99 of Alex Gurney with a
1:07.496 (130.674 mph) for the 2.45-mile,
11-turn road course. The field was
split in half for two 15-minute sessions
for qualifying here.
Twenty-six Daytona Prototypes are entered
in the 200-mile/82-lap/two-hour
race, which will start at 6:30 p.m. Eastern
time tomorrow night and will be
broadcast two-and-a-half hours later at 9
p.m. Eastern on SPEED.
"The car is working very well," Brix said
after qualifying. "The weather is
sunny and it's about 85. We're working
on a couple of ideas to improve the
car even more in the evening practice session. We
think our car will be even
better as it gets cooler, which will hopefully
help us tomorrow night."
The team was 15th in the first practice session
today with a 1:09.683
(126.573); tenth in the second practice session
with a 1:08.537 (128.690 mph) and
ninth in the third session with a 1:08.444
(128.864 mph).
