Jourdain
to Join Brix in Kodak Car
For Last Two Rolex Series Races of the Year
LEBANON, Ohio, Aug. 23 - Michel Jourdain
Jr. of Mexico City, Mexico will join
Harrison Brix of San Jose, Calif. behind
the wheel of the Feeds the
Need/Doran Racing DORAN JE4 Ford No. 77 for
the last two Rolex Series races of the
year, team owner Kevin Doran said today.
The first event is this weekend's Sonoma
250 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma,
Calif. The second race is the following weekend's
Discount Tire Sunchaser event
at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah.
Jourdain replaces Terry Borcheller of Vero
Beach, Fla., in the car, which
carries the colors of the Kodak EasyShare
System, Amp'd Mobile and SIRIUS.
"We decided a change would be best for both
of us," Doran said. "Hopefully
Michel will be able to help turn our luck
around."
Jourdain was part of the driving roster for
one of the car's best finishes of
the year, which occurred in the season opener
at the Rolex 24 at Daytona
International Speedway in Daytona Beach,
Fla. He, Borcheller, Brix and Forest
Barber of Fort Worth finished seventh overall
and seventh in the Daytona
Prototype class in that event. The team's
best finish of the season to date occurred
at the next race in Mexico City, Mexico when
Borcheller and Brix finished fifth
overall and fifth in the Daytona Prototype
class.
One of Mexico's most accomplished race car
drivers, Jourdain is primarily
known for his many accomplishments in the
Champ Car World Series, the NASCAR
Busch Grand National Series and the NASCAR
Craftsman Truck Series. He is
currently driving a Roush Racing Ford F-150
in selected events in the latter series,
including upcoming truck races at Las Vegas,
Atlanta and Texas.
"I'm looking forward to working with Kevin
Doran and everyone at Doran Racing
again," Jourdain said. "They're a
great group of guys. Hopefully we can have
some good finishes and end up with a little
better position in the
championship."
Brix has been looking forward to this weekend's
race at Infineon all year
because it's near his home in San Jose.
"We're expecting quite a few customers of
Amp'd Mobile to attend the race at
Infineon, and we're looking forward to putting
on a good show for them," Brix
said.
Neither Brix nor Jourdain have raced at Infineon
or Miller Motorsports Park
in the past, but both are looking forward
to changing that when practice begins
at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Infineon.
"It's one of my home tracks, but it wasn't
part of my Skip Barber schedule
and I've never raced there," Brix said. "It'll
be a new track and a new
situation for me, but I go there at least
twice a year as a spectator. I usually
watch the races there from near the Carousel,
and I'm usually on the frontstretch
for the drag races. I love the drag
races there."
"I went to the NEXTEL Cup race at Infineon
two years ago, and I'm really
looking forward to driving there," Jourdain
added.
Qualifying for the Daytona Prototype class
is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. on
Friday.
The Sonoma 250 is scheduled to get the green
flag at 3 p.m. local time on
Saturday on Infineon's 2.52-mile road course. The
race is part of an Indy Racing
League weekend. The Rolex Series race
will be broadcast on a tape-delayed
basis at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, Aug. 27 on
SPEED.
The Discount Tire Sunchaser race at Miller
Motorsports Park is scheduled to
begin at noon on Sept. 2, the same day that
Jourdain turns 30. It is
scheduled to be broadcast live on SPEED in
two parts starting at 2 p.m. ET that day.
A
third driver to join Brix and Jourdain in
the No. 77 for that event will be
announced later, as will the details on a
possible second entry for the team
for that race.
