Hot News & Press from Doran Racing

Things Off to a Good Start at Fontana

FONTANA, Calif., April 1 - Matteo Bobbi and Fabrizio Gollin took their first
laps around California Speedway's road course Friday and both took an
immediate liking to it. The Doran Racing Crown Royal Special Reserve DORAN JE4 Lexus
was fourth in the first practice session and seventh in the second practice
session of the day.

Thursday's test day was called off due to high winds.

In the first practice session Friday the team posted the fourth-fastest time
when the car's 12th lap was clocked in 1:35.152 (106.692 mph).  For most of
that session the team held second place, behind only the CompUSA No. 01 of Luis
Diaz and Scott Pruett, which had the fastest time in the second session.

In the second practice session Friday the team was seventh with a 1:35.410
(106.404 mph), set on the car's 19th lap of the session.

The Krohn Racing/TRG No. 66 of Jorg Bergmeister and Christian Fittipaldi set
the fastest lap of the day with a 1:34.249 (107.715 mph), set in the first
session.

Bobbi and Gollin both like the tight turns in the infield, especially those
right before the cars come back out onto turn four of the superspeedway.  "That
part is a lot like a street course," Bobbi said.

"You must be very patient here," Gollin emphasized, pointing out that the
track is very narrow in the infield, and often it's better to wait until the oval
before passing a slower GT car.

Both of the Doran Racing drivers were interviewed by Nancy Schilke of
www.motorsport.com for a feature story which is slated to appear tonight on the home
page of that popular Web site.  The story will move to the Grand American
archives on that site later.

Gollin is slated to be behind the wheel of the No. 77 when qualifying is held
at 2:10 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday).  The race is scheduled for 1 p.m. local
time Sunday, and will be carried live on SPEED.
