FTN/Doran Racing's Borcheller Finishes 14th
In DP Sprint Race Saturday at Laguna Seca

MONTEREY, Calif., May 6 - Terry Borcheller of Vero Beach, Fla. finished 14th
Saturday at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in the 30-minute Daytona Prototype  race
that was part of the U.S. Sports Car Invitational.

By virtue of that finish his co-driver, Harrison Brix of San Jose, Calif.,
will also start 14th in tomorrow's Road & Track 250 here in the car they share,
the Feeds the Need Racing/Doran Racing DORAN JE4 Ford No. 77.  The beautiful
yellow and black car carries the colors of the Kodak EasyShare System, Amp'd
Mobile and SIRIUS.

The field is extremely close.

Saturday morning Borcheller qualified 16th for the 30-minute, 28-car Daytona
Prototype race, which carried full points, by running a lap of 1:24.957.  His
fastest lap in that session was his 14th of 20 circuits.  It was only 1.245
seconds off the pole, which went to the Ruby Tuesday Championship Team No. 23 of
Patrick Long.

The latter went on to lead every lap in the 30-minute/21-lap sprint that
afternoon, finishing almost a second ahead of the Michael Shank Racing entry.  The
top four cars all had different powerplants: Porsche, Lexus, Pontiac and Ford.

Borcheller's best lap in the 30-minute sprint was a 1:25.925 run on lap 11,
which was just 0.911 of a second off Long's best lap of 1:25.014 run on his lap
12.

Borcheller got off to a good start in the sprint, settling into 15th right
away. One car then got around him but he ran in 16th place for a good portion of
the race before vaulting back into 15th, nestled between the Lowe's Fernandez
Racing No. 12 and the Tuttle Team Racing No. 0. He got 14th on lap 17 when
the Krohn Racing No. 75 dropped back, and he was in that spot when the checkered
waved with 21 laps down.

"The team is working on some things that should really help us in the
future," Borcheller noted.

His run on Saturday was not trouble-free.  "I got hit by both Christian
Fittipaldi and Adrian Fernandez," Borcheller noted. "They just bumped me, but it
was hard enough to crack the left sidepod.  If I hadn't seen them and gone out
of my way to give them a lot of room they would have crashed into me hard. 
That's the unfortunate thing.  They were both coming, no matter what."

The Doran Racing crew will make repairs quickly, and both Borcheller and Brix
will do their best to stay out of trouble in tomorrow's race too.

That contest, which goes for 250 miles/112 laps or two hours and 45 minutes,
is scheduled to start at noon local time and will be broadcast live on SPEED
at 3 p.m. Eastern time.
