Qualifies 20th
Saturday at Barber Motorsports Park
LEEDS, Ala., July 29 - Harrison Brix of San
Jose, Calif. qualified 20th
Saturday afternoon at Barber Motorsports
Park here for Sunday's Porsche 250
presented by Bradley Arant Rolex Series race.
Brix's fastest lap in the 15-minute qualifying
session was a 1:24.820 which
he turned on his fourth lap around the 2.3-mile,
16-turn road course during the
15-minute qualifying session. His
qualifying speed was 97.618 miles per hour
for the Feeds the Need/Doran Racing DORAN
JE4 Ford No. 77. The yellow and
black car carries the colors of the Kodak
EasyShare System, Amp'd Mobile and
SIRIUS.
"We continue to try to develop some things
we've been working on, but today
wasn't one of the days to showcase the DORAN's
true potential," Brix said
afterwards.
"Our Ford engine is strong; we don't have
any power issues, and that's
important," he noted.
"We'll just try to stay out of trouble tomorrow
and finish," he added.
Brix's co-driver is Terry Borcheller of Vero
Beach, Fla.
Anything can happen in racing, as proven
by what happened to polesitter Colin
Braun and Christian Fittipaldi after the
checkered flew on the session.
Contact between the two occurred as they
tried to make their way down pit road,
although neither car appeared to be damaged
badly. Braun's pole-winning time was
a 1:22.022 (100.948 mph).
Tomorrow's 250-mile/109-lap/two-hour-and-45-minute
race will be broadcast on
SPEED at 3 p.m. Eastern time.
