Frisselle Finishes Ninth at Road America. Next Stop: Camp Boggy Creek

ELKHART LAKE, Wis., 25 June – Brian Frisselle drove the No. 77 Office Depot Doran Racing Ford Dallara to a ninth place finish in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series 250 Driven by VisitFlorida.com at Road America. Before heading off to the next Rolex Series round, Frisselle will spend a week at Camp Boggy Creek outside of Orlando, Fla., where he will serve as a counselor to children aged 7-16 who are afflicted with life-threatening illnesses.

An unfortunate pit lane speeding infraction by co-driver Henri Richard, who came in for his scheduled pit stop and handover to Frisselle, set the Office Depot car back on track position. He was only just over the 45 MPH limit, but that’s all it took for officials to force a drive-through penalty that was duly served by Frisselle.

“We had good track position prior to the penalty where we would have at least been with the front-running group following our pit stop. It’s unfortunate, because I think we could have been better, but what can you do? The guys all worked hard on the car, it was well prepared, we had no mechanicals; we just have to find a little more performance,” said Frisselle. “These tracks where we have very long straights don’t seem to suit us as well so looking ahead to the next few tracks, that won’t be quite as much of an issue.”

A nearly 50-minute caution period ate up most of the first of two hours of racing. The Office Depot squad attempted to make the most of the situation by having Richard pit for fuel, tires and driver change as soon as possible while they had a track position advantage.

However, the penalty spoiled the effort, which was then exacerbated by aging tires as the race wore on. Frisselle drove his level best rising to as high as sixth position during his stint. But, with the tires quickly going off in the final 15 minutes of racing, it was all he could do to keep the car on track while attempting to defend his position.

The GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series moves on in two weeks time to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on California’s Central Coast. It’s a track both Frisselle and Richard adore.

“It’s one of my favorite tracks, where I have a lot of experience and it’s Henri’s hometrack, so we're looking forward to taking every advantage of that to come out much further ahead this weekend,” added Frisselle.
